The product
Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore is a DOCG sparkling wine produced exclusively in the hills of the Conegliano Valdobbiadene zone. The denomination is made up of 15 communes (municipal areas), and takes its name from the zone’s twin capitals: Conegliano, the cultural capital, which is the site of Italy’s first School of Winemaking, and Valdobbiadene, the productive heart of an area of extraordinary vocation and peculiar beauty, with a special vocation for producing high-quality grapes. Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore may be enjoyed in Brut,Extra Dry and Dry versions, classified according to their level of residual sugar.
The spumante can also be classified by its origin: the “Rive” is produced with grapes coming from a single municipality or district of it. In the municipality of Valdobbiadene, in an area of 108 hectares, is produced the Cartizze, the most important expression of the DOCG.
EXTRA BRUT(0-6g/l)
The Extra Brut is the most contemporary version, in line with international trends that go towards an increasingly dry taste. It enhances the vivacity and fruitiness of the grapes and the territory expressiveness. Dry in the mouth and of high intensity, its taste recalls the olfactory sensations.
BRUT(0-12g/l)
The Brut is rich in hints of citrus and vegetal notes, accompanied by pleasant notes of bread crust and combined with a beautiful and lively gustatory energy. The perlage has a persistence of taste and cleanliness of the palate, making it the sparkling wine par excellence.
EXTRA DRY (12-17g/l)
This is the version that combines the varietal aroma with the flavor enhanced by the bubbles. The color is a bright straw yellow enlivened by the perlage. The aroma is fresh and rich in scents of fruit, apple, pear, with a hint of citrus fruit that fades into the floral. To the mouth, the wine is soft and dry at the same time, thanks to a well present acidity.
DRY (17-32g/l)
This is the less widespread version, which enhances the floral fruitiness. It has a pale straw yellow color, a delicate and fruity aroma, with hints of citrus, white peach and green apple, and a savory, fresh and soft taste.
Production area
We are in the Veneto Region of north-east Italy, in a hilly zone of the Province of Treviso, between Venice and the Dolomites. Here vine- growing has extremely ancient origins and the borders of the historic production area have remained substantially unchanged since the 1930s. It includes 15 communes: Cison di Valmarino, Colle Umberto, Conegliano, Farra di Soligo, Follina, Miane, Pieve di Soligo, Refrontolo, San Pietro di Feletto, San Vendemiano, Susegana, Tarzo, Valdobbiadene, Vidor and Vittorio Veneto.
The hills stretch from east to west and therefore have one slope facing south, where the vineyards enjoy the best exposure to sunlight, and one facing north, usually occupied by woodland.

Consorzio di Tutela Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG
In 1962, a group of 11 producers representing the large sparkling wine companies and the main vine-growers’ cooperatives, founded the Consorzio di Tutela del Prosecco di Conegliano Valdobbiadene, proposing a set of production regulations in order to protect the quality and image of their wine.
Seven years later, on 2nd April 1969, their efforts were rewarded with recognition by the Italian Ministry of Agriculture of Conegliano-Valdobbiadene as a D.O.C. production zone for Prosecco and Superiore di Cartizze. With this document, the production of Prosecco was legally recognized and formally regulated by the institutions for the first time.
The Consortium groups together the producers in the Denomination with the objective of protecting and promoting Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore both in Italy and around the world.
In 2009, with the reorganisation of the Prosecco denominations, the Ministry of Agriculture classified Conegliano Valdobbiadene as a Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita (D.O.C.G.) area, the highest level of quality for Italian wines.
